Patrick May is a graduate of the School of Music at the University of British Columbia, studying piano with Henri-Paul Sicsic, chamber music with Terrence Dawson and Lee Kum-Sing, and vocal collaboration with Rena Sharon.
Patrick May is also the President of The Vancouver Chopin Society, coordinating with the Chopin Institute in Warsaw, among others, to bring to Vancouver solo piano recitals by world-class musicians. Highlight of last year was his travel to Warsaw for meetings at the International Federation of Chopin Societies, as well as to attend performances at the 18th International Chopin Competition, securing to perform in Vancouver many of the laureates from the competition. Patrick is the author of the blog Music and Arts, writing articles on music and the arts.
Patrick May runs an active piano studio in Vancouver, working with both children and adults. He performs chamber music and works with singers around Vancouver, including a concert at VSO’s Pyatt Hall. He is a passionate travel photographer and avid reader of history, religion, biographies and murder mysteries.
